Car history: |
1968 Corvette 427 390 hp,Posi, auto, power steering, AM/FM stereo, Rare Cortez Bronze with Tabaco interior color combo. The story: The car has been sitting in an airplane hanger since 1980 where it was parked by the second owner with 65,00 miles and has sat since. He had the original motor rebuild by a local engine shop had some problems with it and replaced it with a 1974 454 and lost interest where it sat until 3 weeks ago when I aquirred it. The Body: The overall condition of the body is very nice and presentable not broke up. At one point it did suffer minor repair to the left front and looks like a small peice was spliced in from the left wheel well center up to the left head light and recieved a complete repaint then. That is all the damage that we can deteched. All the chrome is there with emblems and all needing rechroming but straight. A very nice start to a cool car.All the headlight stuff etc is all there. The car even retains the inspection chalk marks on the cowl. The Interior:The car will need carpet as it is faded but complete The seats are very dry and will also need to be recovered. As for the rest it is very nice to excellent with the dash, door panels, council, etc being very very nice complete and unmolested. The radio appears to have never been out of the car as with all the dash components. Driveline and engine compartment:The motor was replaced with a 1974 454 turns over by hand. As for the original stuff I will list them Alt,intake, dist,ps stuff, radiator and hoses(yes it still has GM hoses with numbers for the purist)Pulleys look to be Trans(I have not been able to verify this though)rearend. Frame: The bad news is the frame is rusty as it sat on damp concrette and took its toll and will need to be replaced. Overveiw:This is a very nice car to start with as it has not been molested to bad by the 2 previous owners! I do know of a 68 427 435hp block that is available. I do have the tank sheet. 65,261 miles. July 14, 2008. |
